A – 7.18am. I have the bedside clock/radio alarm set for 7am, even though I've no need at the moment, to get up so early and some mornings, I actually wake and get up much earlier, due to occasional insomnia. I tend to lay in bed for a while, getting to grips with consciousness again, recalling any early morning, R.E.M dreams and taking in the headlines from the BBC Radio 4 'Today' programme. Since taking up smoking again last year, I find my breathing has gotten a lot heavier and I have a major coughing bout immediately after waking and which continues through the morning until the body has settled into the day.
